Elizabeth Greenway, 1845

This English sampler has a few holes, but they do not affect the design itself. In the design there are two couples, one on either side of the house, and two figures at the bottom who appear to be farmers. The verse reads:

Lord, when thou didst ascend on high
Ten thousand angels filled the sky
Those heavenly guards around thee wait
Like chariots that attend thy state.

The design size is 13 inches wide by 17 inches high. The sampler has not been reproduced.

Price: $1000.00

Ann Perkins 1813

The sampler is English in origin. The frame is of unknown origin, the sampler has not been removed from the frame and has not been reproduced by Threads of Gold. There are several small holes but they do not affect the design. The sampler includes two freehand flower motifs, and an unusual double sawtooth border of satin stitches.

Size of the design area is 11 by 12 inches.

The verse reads:

O may it be my happiness
To choose the Lord my might
His sacred word and promises
My study and delight
Religion on the Charms of youth
With pleasing luster shine
The sweetest love expands in truth
Lord may her sweets be mine.

Price: $1200.00

Ann Emerson

This undated silk on linen sampler has cross-stitched and Algerian eye alphabets, as well as scattered heart and diamond motifs and the familiar "Jesus permit" pious verse.  A large flower basket, interesting trees and an odd, kiwi-like bird complete the bottom portion of the sampler. The sampler itself (not counting the frame) is 13 inches wide and 15 inches high. It has not been reproduced.

This sampler was in the possession of the Museum of Science & Industry, Chicago, but was deaccessioned from their collection because it did not fit in with their mission.
