Susanna Roland's Sampler

This is a reproduction of a sampler stitched by Susanna Roland of Montgomery, Pennsylvania, in 1813. For our model, DMC floss was used and the linen is 25 count natural.

The alphabets are stitched with Algerian eye, rice stitch, and eyelet. Queen stitch and satin stitch are used, and the verse and stitcher's information is stitched "over one." Detailed instructions and illustrations are given.

The stitch count is 203 by 234. On 25 count linen, the design size is 16 1/4 by 18 3/4 inches. On 32 count linen, it is 12 3/4 by 14 3/4 inches.
