Charlotte Bronte Sampler

This is a reproduction of a sampler which Charlotte Bronte worked when she was six years old. The reproduction is authorized by the Bronte Society, and the original may be seen at the Bronte Parsonage Museum, Haworth, England.

The Bronte sisters were not extremely long-lived. Charlotte, the eldest, lived from 1816 to 1855; Emily from 1818 to 1848, and Anne from 1820 to 1849. Anne and Emily apparently worked on their samplers at the same time, around 1828.

The stitch count is approximately 100 by 100. Stitched on 28 count linen, the design measures approximately 7 by 7 inches.
