Caroline Braden - 1801

This 1801 New Hampshire sampler has a border of colorful flowers and satin stitch leaves. It also has motifs of birds, butterflies, and squirrels, along with trees and an urn of flowers. The verse shows a belief common to many young sampler stitchers. The larger flowers at the bottom are often found in New England samplers.

Our model was stitched using silk floss on 36 count Edinborough linen from Zweigart.

Stitch count is 280 by 296. On 36 count linen, the design is 15.5 by 16.5 inches.

Reproduced and stitched by Edna Medlin.
